Have I ever broken a bone? Why yes, yes I have. I used to be quite physically adventurous ha ha. BMX bicycles, tree climbing, running and jumping from rooftop to rooftop at a retirement facility I worked at, cliff diving, mosh pits… the list goes on and on. I broke my elbow when I was ten years old. How did that happen? I fell and braced myself with my arm and my elbow snapped. It isn’t the most glamorous way to break a bone, but it’s how it happened. Over the years I’ve made up stories to make that story more entertaining like falling off a rooftop after saving a cat or doing a daring jump on my bike, but that’s how that one really happened. I felt okay about the whole thing once I got to school the day after getting my cast because everyone in my grade signed it. It was a small elementary school, but it was nice to have everyone run up asking to sign it. I even met an NFL football player at the grocery store, and he offered to sign my cast… of course I said, yes! I still had the cast up until I moved out on my own for the first time. I held onto it for the memories, but the truth is, you never forget your first.
