This is a fun question because it depends on the work. I’ll give a quick rundown…
When I’m working in the yard or any sort of physical work, I’m usually listening to music, and it’s usually something heavy and full of energy. Some examples would be: Killswitch Engage, Whitechapel, Fit For A King, System of a Down, Oceans Ate Alaska, and Trivium.
When I’m lifting weights/exercising, which isn’t exactly working, but my workouts tend to feel like hard work, I sometimes listen to the bands above, or similar. Sometimes I listen to audio books or podcasts, and those can vary quite bit… really depends on what I’m into at the time.
When I’m writing stories or blogs, I always listen to movie and video game soundtracks. Here are a few examples of my go-to soundtracks: King Arthur Legend of the Sword, Dragon Age Inquisition, Dragon Age Origins, The Witcher 1-3, and The Last Kingdom.
When I’m at work, I listen to podcasts and audio books for the most part. Half my shift is driving, so that’s where I get my book “reading” and podcast listening done. Examples vary, but for podcasts, they’re usually Star Wars pods, or pods about Norse mythology, or pods about high strangeness like UFO’s and the paranormal. Audio books… I’m sort of all over the place with books, but they’re almost always fictional stories and typically fall into the genres similar to my podcast listening. Some of my favorite audio books that I return to once a year are: Star Wars: Heir to the Empire (I wrote a piece about my love for this book here), American Sniper, The Secret History of Star Wars, American Gods, Darth Bane: Path of Destruction, and pretty much any Dan Brown book.
Hope you all have a wonderful week!
