Life Without Music?

Daily writing prompt
What would your life be like without music?

Jon Solo Sebastian 09/10/2025:

What would my life be like without music? Is this question being asked as if music never existed? Or is it asking it in a way that means music had been taken away from me for some reason? I think the answer could go very deep when you consider the life on earth, the other planets and moons in the solar system, the vastness of space, etc—music lives within everything if you know what you’re listening for.

To keep it blunt and simple, my life would suck without music. Considering how much of an impact music has had on the person I am today, I would be lost without it. A huge reason I got into writing was due to music. When I was in junior high, I was listening to a lot of classic rock and some “hippy” music. Two of the biggest influences came from the band Rush, and the musician Bob Dylan. They used their music to tell stories. I remember sitting back listening to their music and picturing the stories the songs told. By the time I got to high school, I was already writing my own stories, poems, and song lyrics. Then I got into playing guitar and singing in bands. Music is always there. I listen to music while I work out. I listen to music while I’m writing; I have specific soundtracks to listen to based on what I’m writing. It’s always on while I’m driving unless I’m listening to audio books or podcast, which both have music of some sort either for introductions or backgrounds. Music is everywhere. You hear birds singing or crickets, or other animals and insects. I feel as if the world and the universe would be silent without music. I know I wouldn’t be who I am today without it.

Again, life would suck without music.
