26 books in 2026

Well, if you know me or have been following me, you might have guessed this would be my first book for 2026. I have to confess, I started this reading this book right before the end of 2025, but the bulk of it has been read in 2026. The Thrawn Trilogy, starting with Heir to the Empire, is some of my favorite Star Wars ever made. It continues the story and adventures of the beloved characters, five years after Return of the Jedi. While the stories are no longer considered canon, back in 1995, they were the sequel trilogy we never thought we’d get… and still never got. I’ve yammered on about these books so much, and like my other post stated, I won’t be doing any reviews outside of some very brief thoughts on the books I read this year.

I have to do the audio versions of most Star Wars books because the narrators are so good at drawing you in. Marc Thompson and Jonathan Davis (not the Korn vocalist) do such superb jobs with their narration and acting that it always feels like you’re listening to a Star Wars movie. I try to revisit the Thrawn Trilogy every year, but I did not listen to them in 2025—mostly because I was taking a break from Star Wars.

Have you ever read this book? Do you feel it is a better or worse sequel trilogy when comparing it to the real sequel trilogy filmes? Let me know what you think.

If you’ve never read my piece on this book, you can check it out at the link below!
