The Hunted: Superstitions Don’t Stay Buried in Brighton Falls

Hello everyone! I’m excited to announce that my graphic novel with the above title is now finished, and we are really close to announcing the release date. This has been a very long time waiting, but like that old saying goes, “good things come to those who wait.” My good friend and very talented artist, Danielle and I have been working on this project for many years. I first created this story in the late 90’s while I was in high school. I had many ideas of how I wanted to tell this story, but always fell back to it being a comic book. The biggest issue there, was that I am not an artist… I know, writing is an art, but you know what I mean—I can’t draw/create visual art with my hands. So the story, while outlined and written, took a back seat for a long time.

One day, I don’t remember what year it was, but I said, screw it, and I started very poorly, drawing the panels for the comic book. My method, even though the result was bad, was a cool idea. I set up a desk, I set up action figures and lighting in poses and positions so I had something to look at while I was drawing the scenes. You’ll actually get to see some of my process in the “behind the scenes” section of the graphic novel. Once I finished drafting it all, I knew I needed a real artist. Well, I had this friend from back in the high school days that I hadn’t seen in quite a long time… that happens as you get older, you lose touch with people, but we connected, and boom! The process of turning my messy and poorly drawn draft into a beautiful work of art had begun.

Considering neither of us had ever created a comic book, we had to learn the process; her more than me, since she was going to be doing all of the art work. Also considering we weren’t being paid to create this book, we had to work on it when time allowed for it because we have our jobs and lives. The thing is that all this time was required in order to make this the best it could be, and I swear, the final product is better than I ever could have imagined. Sure, as a writer/author, you typically see your story and characters in your head while you’re crafting it, but still, I am blown away by how amazing this looks. Every page and every panel is a beautiful work of art.

Since we’ve been spending the last few weeks finalizing everything, I have not had a chance to put together any new cryptid stories for you all to check out. I have a few in the works, though, so those will be coming soon!

As always, thank you so much for coming to my site and reading all the things I post. It really means the world to me.

I will make an announcement post once I have the details for the release date in case any of you are interested in buying the book. We are publishing independently, so we could definitely use the support, but more importantly, if you’re into the genre, I’d just be happy to know you’ve read it and enjoy it!

Until next time, “Be excellent to each other!”
